You will have to pay close attention to the text at the bottom of the screen in order to stay abreast of the story, and get hints as to what needs to be done next.

It is possible to die in Inquisitive Dave, but you have unlimited lives at your disposal. If you die, you will return to the last checkpoint that you've passed (indicated by a strange eyeball in the background). If you quit the game and decide to come back at a later date, choosing the continue option on the main menu will also start you off at the last checkpoint that you visited.

Do not be ashamed to use a trial-and-error approach to beating this adventure game. You are not penalized for the amount of time or tries that it takes to complete Inquisitive Dave. Sadly, there is also no log or quest journal in this game, so you will have to pay close attention to the limited explanations and hints that the game provides and remember each detail. If you cannot remember, trial-and-error and simple curiosity can still get you a very long way in this adventure game.
