Aubital is a challenging and intriguing logic based online adventure game that puts you in the role of the lonely robot who has been freed from his evil captors by a mysterious friend. The question in, can you actually trust this mysterious friend? You will need to use your wits and your logic skills to figure that out as you pass through level after level of increasingly difficult puzzles. It is dark in your little world, but you need to escape. Luckily, you are equipped with lights that can help you see and sonar capabilities to help you expand your field of vision. This will help, but how far you get in the game will depend on how much you are willing to think and how much patience you have. There are some levels you will need to reset several times in order to complete them, but fear not, you have as many resets as you need and resetting will not take you back to the beginning of the game.
The goal of Aubital is not an uncommon one in the genre of online adventure games. You need to get from the start point of the level to the end point. What's really different about this game is that something the end point isn't clear. You almost always start at the top left corner of the game screen and need to get to the bottom right corner, but the way to do that isn't always laid out clearly for you. In addition, you will sometimes be misguided by writing on the wall. Like your mysterious friend says, you can't trust anyone and sometimes that includes the writing on the wall. If it doesn't seem to be guiding you the right way, try something else. Sometimes, that's the only way to get where you need to go.
Utilize switches, lifts and every other object you are given in Aubital to reach your destination. Sometimes you will need to fill gaps with blocks. Other times you will need to jump over the blocks and do nothing with them. Use your sonar to see as much of the path around you as you can to determine what actions you need to take and whether or not you will need to use the blocks you are given. In some instances you can use the walls to jump off of to get to higher levels, but you will have to jump fast. It can be difficult, but that's what makes this game so much fun.
Overall, Aubital is an excellent puzzle based adventure game that will keep you playing simply to see what challenge awaits you in the next level. The game is incredibly addictive and will require you to put your logic skills to the test if you want to make it to the end and escape your captors. The graphics are basic but not boring or bland and the controls are easy to use and understand. The real challenge here is simply figuring out how to get to the next level. It isn't always easy, but it is a lot of fun.
